Taking a look at sediments
You were right if you noticed that our "sediment samples" on the previous page were composed of beans, noodles, and rice. Although actual sediments are composed of different materials, scientists (and you) can look at them in the same way that we looked at the artificial samples.

Sediments can be described and classified by their size, composition, and other features, as we will discover through this lesson. So what are "real" sediments?
