Objectives
The
student will be able to:
- Analyze real fossil data collected from a scientific research cruise
- Appreciate how absolute ages are assigned to relative ages of fossils found within sedimentary cores
- Construct and analyze an age-depth plot based upon fossil data
- Understand how timescales are frequently updated, resulting in new absolute age assignments to the index fossils used in stratigraphy
